Steam Support will not request your Steam account password for any reason, nor will you ever be asked to enter your Steam account password into a website form.

This error message indicates that Steam is not loading properly and is running in your Task Manager's Processes without launching the user interface.

The issue is usually caused by wareout/idemlog/idesk mfc application spyware which may be ignored by some spyware removal tools.

The simplest way to resolve this issue is to download and run Fixwareout.exe or another tool that has been identified to remove wareout/idemlog/idesk mfc application spyware. This does not work on Windows Vista and is not the most common cause of the issue on Vista.

Windows Vista Users

Ensure that Steam and Steam games are not running in Windows Compatibility Mode.
