SteamID, Steam Account Names and Deleting Accounts

Steam Support will not request your Steam account password for any reason, nor will you ever be asked to enter your Steam account password into a website form.

How can I find my SteamID?

SteamID may refer to your Steam account's unique numeric identifier or your Steam Community profile. The instructions below will help you find your unique numeric identifier - for assistance with the Steam Community, please see the [[the Steam Community|Steam Community] topic.

  1. Launch any Valve multiplayer game.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Select the Keyboard tab.
  4. Click the Advanced button.
  5. Check the box labeled Enable Developer Console.
  6. Click Apply and then click OK.
  7. Join or create a server.
  8. From the menu screen, press the tilde ~ key - typically in the upper left hand corner of the keyboard to load the Console.
  9. Type status into the console text field and press the Enter key.
  10. Your SteamID will be displayed next to your nickname in the console window.

SteamID example: STEAM_0:1:1234567


Can my numeric SteamID and/or Steam Account Name be changed?

Unfortunately, your numeric SteamID and Steam Account Name can not be changed. Your Steam Community ID can be changed at any time in your Steam Community settings, under "Edit my SteamID page".


Was my Steam account deleted?

Steam accounts with active game subscriptions can not be deleted.
