Ping refers to the length of time required for your machine to synchronize information with the server which you are playing on.

A high ping represents a greater delay in communicating with the server - some server administrators set their servers to automatically kick players when their ping exceeds a set amount of time.

To ensure the best performance from the games you will need a high-speed connection to play, especially if you are connecting to servers which are far away from your location.
