Wad files contain textures for maps, wall, ground, pictures, structures, etc. There are two answers for missing WAD files like this, one for Clients and one for Servers. Client SolutionFor Clients (players) with this problem, the answer is to search on your favorite internet search engine (Google or Yahoo for example) for "de_vegas.wad". There are many websites that have this file available for download. You need to download and save that file to your Counter-Strike/cstrike folder, typically here: C:\program files\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\<account>\Counter-Strike\cstrike\de_vegas.wad Clients can also search for servers running this map and try a few, one should have the wad file enabled as a download which will automatically install the file in the proper location. Dedicated Server SolutionStand-alone Servers need to add both the de_vegas.wad file to the c:\hlserver\cstrike folder and they should create a file with notepad called "fy_iceworld.res" in the c:\hlserver\cstrike\maps folder. Inside the res file is the line "de_vegas.wad" . The res file should be placed along with the fy_iceworld.bsp and fy_iceworld.txt file in the maps directory. The Stand-Alone Dedicated Server install would then look like this:
