This error is: WSAEINTR (10004) Interrupted function call. A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall. If you receive the following error: NET_SendPacket ERROR:WSAEINTR this is typically caused when your computer is already using the default client port 27005. This solution might help for other types of WINSOCK errors as well. Possible Causes:
Possible Solutions: 1. Bad Winsock dll: How to Repair Common Winsock Errors 2. Bad TCP/IP stack: Remove all TCP/IP instances from Network Properties. Fix this by: Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs-> Windows Setup and remove all of the Communications components. Reboot your computer and then repeat the same procedure, but instead check the box to re-install the network components. When that is done, re-add TCP/IP in your network properties to your NIC. 3. Conflicting Ports: Try adding this to the end of your launch properties: +clientport 27025 4. Firewall: Zonealarm / Mcafee: Disable them. BlackICE/Norton: Add permissions for ports 27005 thru 27030, UDP and TCP Windows XP SP1 Firewall: no changes required. Windows XP SP2: remove all references to Steam.exe and all instances of HL.exe and let them be re-discovered again, be sure to give permission for all ports, TCP and UDP. 5. ICS Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS): disable this. 6.
