Troubleshooting in-game video problems and issues with the Steam client (i.e. error messages not found when searching our FAQ's and unexpected behavior) may require a screenshot.

Screenshots of Steam Issues

  1. Recreate the error or unexpected behavior
  2. Press the Ctrl and PrtScn keys simultaneously to save a copy of what is being displayed to the clipboard
  3. Open the Paint program (Start button > Programs > Accessories > Paint) and go to Edit > Paste to paste the contents of the clipboard
  4. Go to File > Save As... and save the file to your desktop (JPG format is prefered)

Screenshots of Game Issues

  1. Load the game and navigate or play to the point at which the issue occurs
  2. Press F5 (this is the default Screenshot key) to save a screenshot
  3. Locate the screenshot image which was created after closing the game (screenshots will be saved to the game folder under your username folder in the SteamApps directory). Example: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<your username>\counter-strike\cstrike

Once you have saved the image file, create a support case (or reply to your existing support case) with the image file as an attachment. Please see the Contacting VALVe Billing and Support FAQ if you need instructions to contact Steam Support.
