January 8th, 2008 We have found reports of Steam client crashes, update errors, and connectivity issues caused by the following programs: Tuneup WinStyler Theme Service - causes Steam Crash: The registry is use by another process, timeout expired - must be disabled GhostSurf 2008 - Causes Steam Problem: Steam fails to start (no error message or update progress window) and continues to run in the background - must be uninstalled AOLacsd.exe (AOL connection driver) - Steam client update progress stops, update process does not complete - must be uninstalled Spycatcher Express - Steam client update progress stops, update process does not complete - must be uninstalled Please see the Disabling Background Applications article for instructions to disable the Tuneup WinStyler Theme Service.
