Please observe the following instructions to run and save an MSINFO32 report if requested by Steam Support:

  1. Go to the Start button
  2. Select Run...
  3. Type msinfo32 and click OK
  4. While viewing the System Summary node go to File then Save
  5. Save your MSINFO32 report as msinfo32.nfo on your desktop for easy access (you may delete the file once you have attached it to support case and submitted the case)

Large File Sizes for MSINFO32 Reports

If there is a lot of information stored in the error logs of the MSINFO32 report, this can cause the reports to be very large in size (10+ mb). If your MSINFO32 file is particularly large, please follow these instructions to clear the error log:

  1. Click the Windows Start button
  2. Select Run (or hit 'Windows Key + R')
  3. Type compmgmt.msc and hit Enter

The ‘Computer Management’ window will now prompt you.

Directly underneath the 'Computer Management' icon, you should see the category called 'System Tools'.

  1. Click the + box, next to 'System Tools' to expand the folder tree
  2. Select the Event Viewer category
  3. Highlight Application
  4. Right click and select Clear all Events
  5. When asked to Save Application Data, click No to clear the error log and save a new instance of the report.
  6. Contact Steam Support with your updated file attached to your incident report for assistance.
